Registration Options

Sol Zouk Class Structure:

★ All are welcome to join the Level 1 Foundations 4-week Progressive Course! This course runs on a 5-month lesson plan rotation so each month covers different Brazilian Zouk essentials to set a solid foundation of the dance.★ For Level 2, students are expected to have at least 5+ months of consistent Brazilian Zouk training. Students must pass a level assessment test & receive approval from the team of instructors to join Level 2 4-Week Progressive Course. ★ For Zouk University, students are expected to have at least 1-2+ years of Brazilian Zouk training. This is a training group that runs in 8-week series with more complex Brazilian zouk movements & drills that are catered to the current cohort.

★The next formal level placement assessment opportunity to advance to Level 2 or Zouk University will be scheduled in July 2024! Details to be announced!

Class Descriptions:

Level 1 (4-Week Progressive)

★ 1 hr. 15 min. class + 15 min. practica with Level 2 students★ In Level 1, you will develop a basic understanding of body awareness, proper weight shifting, rhythm & timing, and partner dance connection.★ Over the course of 5 months, you will learn the Fundamental Brazilian Zouk steps such as Foundational Footwork (basic in place/side to side/forward and back), Viradinha, Lateral, Simple Turn, Gostosinho, Soltinho, Yo-yo, Bonus, etc.★ After completing 5 months of the Level 1 Progressive Courses, you are eligible to test into Level 2.

Level 2 (4-Week Progressive)

★ 1 hr. 15 min. class + 15 min. practica with Level 1 students★ Students must have completed all 5 Level 1 Foundations Courses (minimum 5 months training) and have passed the level placement test. ★ Students must show proficiency in the Level 1 Foundations including: Fundamental Brazilian Zouk steps such as Foundational Footwork (basic in place/side to side/forward and back), Viradinha, Lateral, Simple Turn, Gostosinho, Soltinho, Yo-yo, Bonus, etc.★ Building upon the foundations listed above, Level 2 students are challenged with different variations, incorporating more body movement/undulations, styling, exploring musicality, and fine tuning technique and comfort in the partner dance.

Zouk University Training Program:

★ 2-hours of weekly training building on all Zouk Foundations with a deeper dive into head movement, counter balances, tilted turns, musicality, creative expression, styling, choreography & more! ★Students must have at least 1+ years of Brazilian Zouk training and must show proficiency in the Level 1 & Level 2 Foundations including but not limited to the following:★ Understanding and consistency in practice of body awareness, proper weight shifting, projection, torsion, control of rhythm & timing, adaptability of partner connection, clarity, spatial awareness, ability to redirect, various transitions between moves, etc.★ Understanding and Implementation of many variations of fundamental Brazilian Zouk steps such as Viradinha, Lateral, Simple Turn, Gostosinho, Soltinho, Yo-yo, Bonus, Head Movement, etc.
